I’ve neglected all (6) of you the last few weeks and I can only blame the Summer Holidays.
I honestly thought I could carry on writing as normal because even in term time I have the baby and Lola for half of the day. How much harder can the other two be?!
A lot, I can tell you.
Lola is fine on her own, Jasper is grand with Lola. Lola with Pepper and Cherry is all kinds of drama. They clash so much I feel like a referee most of the time.
So when the baby is sleeping or playing and I’d usually use that time to write I’m catching up on the mountain of housework or dragging kids off each other and screaming ‘Play NICELY’ from room to room.
I wanted to write something though so I’m going to do a little update and use the photos I’ve been sharing on Instagram this past week.
Going back to two weekends ago I did a quick wander up a mountain. It had been organized to fundraise for the girls school, a group of parents decided to do a sponsored walk.
I love walking so joined in full of gusto.
Not long after this photo was taken it began to pour with rain and it didn’t stop for the full 5 hours we were out. Soaked was not the word.
Also, as with most things, I enjoy them on my terms. Which is probably why I’m not very sociable, having to compromise is not a skill of mine. My walks usually consist of a lot of messing around, multiple stops, general clown behavior. This was a head down and off we stomp situation.
I don’t think serious hiking trips are the one for me. I’ll stick with walking companions on my wave length, like my 3 year old.
We headed the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park last Sunday. It was a glorious day and there is so much to see and do. The girls loved it. I think they have activities on throughout the Summer, we made scarecrows, so worth a look if you are stuck for something to do. TOP TIP- Take a picnic. We ate at the cafe which I think runs independently and it was so awful.
That evening we had a lovely barbecue at Sam’s Dads house.
Last week we had some lovely play dates with friends.
I do love a play date.
Especially in the weather we were having last week.
Perfect opportunity for me to sit in the sun while my kids run wild in a garden I didn’t have to tidy and repeatedly ask someone else for snacks for a few hours.
Unfortunately Jasper has been suffering from a terrible case of conjunctivitis so we have been pretty much house bound for the past few days. We managed to have a picnic at the park whilst he slept in his pram (away from anyone he could pass it on to).
At the weekend we had a barbecue at my Mums which was lovely, always love an opportunity to play rounders. Sam and I managed to have a big falling out so that put a slight dampener on things. That’s our problem when he works a lot, when we get time together we’re both frazzled and pick and snipe.
Today we have some of my family coming to visit as it’s Lola’s birthday tomorrow! She is too miniature to be 4 years old. We’re heading to Gullivers World all things being well. I had hoped to organize a party but with the littlest being ill I just haven’t had the time or the energy.
Hope you are enjoying the break so far.
Let me know what you think about this kind of update?
