This weekend I tried my very best to get the bulk of housework done on Saturday so that I could have a completely stress free and chilled out Sunday.
For the main part my plan worked perfectly. (Baring in mind I am chief cook and bottle washer at all times so there is always something for me to do)
We were all up pretty early, about 7AM. We spent the majority of the morning watching films and the girls pottered around with their toys.
They play nicely together apart from the odd squabble and P&C are an unbreakable team of two. They are on each others side in the face of adversity no matter what! Poor Lola. At least someday soon she might have Jasper on her side and it’ll be even stevens.
After lunch we decided to get out and blow the cobwebs away.
Sam and the girls were striding ahead in their wellies meanwhile I was floundering in the background trying to drag the pram through the turrets of mud wearing the boots that I live in, not fit for wading! We spent a bit of time puddle jumping but by then we had had our share of clear skies and the rain was setting back in.
The girls were covered head to toe in mud so once we got in they all had a pink bubbly bath and got straight into their pyjamas even though it was only 3PM.
I did hope to go in after them as my toes where blue with cold but by this time Jasper had got himself into a right state and needed me to calm him down. Or more accurately my boobs.
For Dinner I had some chicken portions doing nothing so I put them in a pan with a some stock and let them cook slowly for about an hour, really low temp. Then I took them out and tossed them in some flour with salt and season all (does anyone else use this ‘season all’? It really does what it says on the tin, I use it for everything!) and bunged them in the oven for probably 30 minutes.
When I cook I use no measurements and I time nothing!
I also mashed up some potatoes, mixed in some diced ham and then put it in a baking tray with cheese on top and put that in the oven too. We had these two delightful concoctions with peas and sweetcorn and I made gravy from the stock. It was divine!
Once the kids were in bed I tried to write a blog post for a few hours but the words just weren’t there. We ended up watching Superbad for probably the millionth time but I still laugh out loud at it.
They say a Sunday well spent brings a week of content, I’ve had a pretty contented Monday so rings true so far!
I’ve not long got back from a PTA meeting so now I am going to relax with a Budweiser and maybe get round to watching Mr Selfridge, I heard it was a good one!
